3 weeks back I brought my pair of shih tzus to the veterinary doctor for a distemper injection. Both George and Eve are similar in weight there is only a variation of three pounds, George weighs 14 pounds and Eve 17 lbs. What astuounds me is that they get so charged up going to see their vet, they care for everybody fawning all over them. George met the veterinary doctor at the beginning then Eve.

Eve sprinted back out when the veterinary doctor had finished examining her Then it all went horribly wrong Eve started to retch all the contents in her stomach. Our shih tzu was so ill she couldnt move not even an inch. We lounged in the hope that her condition would get better fairly rapidly. It went from bad to worse, she lost control of her bowl, and didn't seem to be able to concentrate on anything.

When the veterinary doctor noticed what was going on he hurried to his cabinet to get some steroids for our shitzu. We waited to see if this would offset the vaccine. She started to breathe strangely which worried us a lot. We hurried her to a specialty hospital where she was admitted in serious state There was only so much John could do so we fetch her to a special hospital for pets. The following 24 hours were important and we didnt know if she would recover the night.

She had many I.V. lines and oxygen. I dont think the lovely people in the clinic thought our shih tzu dog would succeed but we were optimistic that it would all turn out for the best. Tender loving care as well as the hospital drugs were her stable diet for four days whilst there.Basically she got shock after being given her remedy by John, it wasnt his fault as he could never have known this was going to take place.Happily the story has a happy ending as Eve is on the road to healing.

Eating a little at a time, drinking, but resting a lot. Her road to recuperate has been a tough one but she will be in normal state within a couple of weeks, of that I am 100 per cent positive. It has been a steep learning curve these last few months.

The shih tsu breed are most effected by these types of injections actually and it is not that strange .I am on a bit of movement now to make sure people manage to get "full disclosure".It really cost us a lot of money we could ill afford to spend however we would do anything for our dog.Others should not have to go through this.
